Search Overview
As a full Enterprise Content Management System (ECM) and CRM solution KnowledgeWorker ® maintains a vast amount of accumulative unstructured data within the library, project, and business process modules. The real benefit of ECM to end users is the ability to retrieve this information quickly based on intuitive content searching. To cater for the wide variety of information, KnowledgeWorker® incorporates four types of search including:
Content Search
The regular search is similar to the search engines found on the Internet, familiar with most users. This easy to use search option accesses the contents of office documents, text files, pdf files and many more file formats using standard text, Boolean and proximity searching.
Item Search
The item search provides a quick filter search to find information such as author, owner and date created etc.
Category Search
Category search enables users to search for information using the user defined meta-data such as project number, location, drawing number, in fact any combinations of pre-defined records, which is great for refining the search based on selective data. Saved searches can also be created which will refresh every time based on any new data within the criteria.
Advanced Search (Optional):
To search the contents of files use Bayesian Inference, Shannon’s Information Theory and Latent Semantic Indexing. The ASE is also able to spider external web sites, intranets and document stores, so that this knowledge can be included for search purposes.
These powerful search options enable users to ‘surf’ their company’s corporate information as if they were surfing the web. Search results are displayed in a manner similar to most of the popular search engines. Any content within KnowledgeWorker® can be searched, whether that information is contained within documents, news items, projects, discussions or workflows. In addition, meta-data relating to any content is searchable.
